AI in Healthcare: Queen Mary University's Breakthroughs in AI Webinars Replay

Kameron Young Season 2 Episode 11

I was invited by Queen Mary University to host three out of six of their Breakthroughs in AI webinars. It was an honor and this is the replay of the  AI in Healthcare webinar!

In this illuminating episode, I was joined by Dr. Caroline Roney and Dr. Mohamed Elbadawi. Dr. Roney is a Reader in Computational Medicine and a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow. Her research uses a combination of signal and image processing, machine learning, and computational modeling techniques to develop novel techniques for investigating cardiac arrhythmia mechanisms from clinical imaging data and electrical recordings.  Dr. Elbadawi, recognized as a top scientist 2% by Stanford University,  consecutively in 2022 and 2023, focuses on the use of AI and 3D printing for drug delivery.

We explore the impact of AI in healthcare, discussing digital twins in treatment personalization and orthodontics, its applications in cardiology and the pharmaceutical industry, and the challenges of privacy and AI adoption. We delve into the intersection of neuroscience and AI ethics, and the global implications of AI, addressing accessibility and bias. The role of AI in transforming healthcare professions, public health, and education, alongside Queen Mary University's research in this field, is also examined. We conclude with insights on emerging healthcare technologies and AI's potential in automating surgeries and offering real-time medical advice.
